And...

I HAVE A NEW JOB... So I can't announce it on facebook yet just because I need to tell my manager and I don't think it would be fair if I call him on his vacations so Monday it is to tell him. But today I got the call that I will be the Pastry Chef at The Brickyard Harmons. I will get paid three dollars more than what I do now and I am excited but I think my dad is the most excited about this. Anyways I will start probably the first week in October but will be doing some orientation hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Job Oppertunity...

So a few weeks ago I finally put in my application and resume into the Harmons Grocery Store. Three days later I had a call about a position that was open. I have a interview on Friday and I am a little nervous because I really want this to work out. It is for a pastry chef position which is a new position to the company. I'm not quite sure what will happen but hopefully the interview will go well...

It's about time...

These pictures are afters and before. This first one is April 2010 the second April 2009. The last picture is at Cabaret of Fools with my Managers.

to update this sucker... So life has deffinately stayed busy. I have just been working at the floral shop but hopefully soon taking a job offer that I recieved from Harmons a Grocery store that has a gormet deli and bakery... I have become a advant cycler... Four times a week sometimes only three but I do get up at 5 AM to get to the gym by 5:30 to save me a bike only to bike for an hour and on Wednesday to do another 1/2 hour before my training session. I am planning at some point to get certified so I can teach classes. I did Lisa Patterson's wedding in May. I did the cake and flowers which suprisingly I wasn't stressed but my mother was the whole way to the set up. But here are some pictures of her wedding along with other things I have been doing...

Mega post...

I keep thinking about posting a update but I just never do but I have a couple of hours before my training session so here we go. By the end of 2009 I had finally achieved graduation but along with graduation I had achieved a goal. After moving to Salt Lake I hit a downhill in my life and ended up gaining 40 pounds in the first year. I'm sure school did not help with everything around me. For my birthday I asked for a bodybugg and personal training sessions. Long story short I was able to continue my training sessions with my personal trainer Josh. Life has become a little less stressful but happier. I have lost the 40 pounds but I have lost 6 inches off my chest, waist, and hips (I don't know my past month measurements so this could have changed). At one point I was juggeling work, school and the gym. Now it is so nice to only be juggeling work and the gym and Josh has made the gym a lot easier by making me do my cardio after my sessions three times a week. I have learned how to make pancakes healthy... I know everyone tells me if you make them healthy they won't taste good well I am here to tell you picky me is eating pancakes that are healthy for you... which leads to what I think I want to do. I want to create good tasty food that people who are looking for a more healthy meal plan can eat. Desserts that will curve the sugar cravings but at the same time taste good. Anyways in a nut shell I still want to do cakes but I'm also switching it up. So there is a update in a nutshell...

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Well I am finally done with my internship and have started my last quarter of school. I have two classes that will be challenging. The first on is running the restaurant in the school. As students we are in charge of cooking and serving the meals. We pretty much run it with the help of one of the chefs. My other class is a Capstone class. We make a business plan and present it in the end. It is going to be a lot of work and I really don't know how I am going to have time between work and the gym. I guess I won't have a life for another 11 weeks. Here are some pictures of things I did my last week.

And I also made this one...

This is a white chocolate curl cake. Every curl is made by had out of a mixture of white chocolate and a small amount of gum paste. I was pretty proud of this one. I had help from on of the other girls at Carries but the other day I made curls from milk chocolate for another cake and it took 5 hours straight by myself... very time consuming.

I made this...

So this is the cake I made on Saturday. I did everything except put the fondant on the cake. I even painted the little branches. Carrie and Brooke(Carries Daughter in law) loved it!! Carrie told me to just follow a picture and do what I wanted to do. And this is what turned out. I loved it and it became a favorite for everyone.

I forgot...

I am moving out on my own. I have decided that I am tired of the roomate situations I am always put in and decided I want a place of my own. Between work, school and the gym I am never home. I am excited to move on with my life.

Updates...

Wow I have really slacked in the past six weeks. Here are some things I have been up to. I have been in my internship for 5 weeks now (halfway done). We have been pretty busy the past few weekends with wedding season. The past two weeks each week we have been putting out 16 cakes. It's crazy busy but I'm learning so much and have already learned more than I have in school.

I stacked this cake and put the dowels in it which isn't that easy to make sure the space is the same height and make sure it's level.

This is just the bottom of a five tier cake. All the dark pink is done in royal icing but was stenciled on. Yes stenciled on sounds easy... It's not!!!! Five tiers, 2 hours, and 3-4 people helping later it was finished.

The summer is here...

And the last 11 weeks have been busy. I have finished my third to last quarter and only have two more left. I have been busy with school, work and with extra little things. I made a photo bouquet for my roommate that just got married. These pictures were taken at the Great Salt Lake I think they turned out awesome.

These are some things I have been doing at work. We are keeping busy with weddings and we are short an employee so I have been picking up full shifts now that I am on break for two more weeks.

This is my Chocolate and Confections final. There is quite a story to this final. We had mad the refrigerator and the stove out of chocolate the week before it was due which was a Friday. On Monday at 6:45 AM I got a voice message from my chef telling me that they had turned off the fans in the kitchens and the chocolate melted. On Wednesday we were able to work on it while everyone else cleaned. Luckily we were able to finish it on time and it turned out really good.

This is my final for Restaurant desserts. This is a key lime raspberry frozen souffle with a raspberry and key lime sauce.

I start my internship with Carrie's Cakes in two weeks and I am really excited. Work isn't too happy because they are short handed but I think we will be able to work it out.

What I do to keep myself awake during Conference...

So I decided that I needed a project to stay awake during General Conference so I decided to paint my dresser I that I bought in July and never painted. Here is the finished product. I also decided to rearrange my room it gave me more room. So if anyone needs any furniture painted I would love to do it for a cheap price and it would have to be after September!!

Where is Spring?

All I can think of is how we woke up on my birthday back in 98 or 99 to 5 feet snow drifts. I really hope spring will come soon. The other day I didn't realize my alarm clock was on PM and I woke up 15 minutes before I was supposed to be at work. I walk out of my room to see snow out the window. The roads were slick and it was coming down pretty hard. I was 30 minutes late to work. I'm tired of the snow and ready for everything to bloom. Spring please come soon before I go crazy!!!

So July thru September I will be working the weekends with her. At Every Blooming Thing we work a lot with Carrie. Infact we consider her part of the EBT Family. I am so excited. Here is some of her work:

School, Work, School, Work...

So I feel like all I do is work and go to school and have no time to do anything else. This last week we had a fundraiser called Blooming Hope. This is where we go to the Spring Home and Garden Show and all flowers and our time are donated. We are on a stage for 2-3 hours arranging flowers to raise money for Primary Childrens Hospital. We really don't have any time to think about where the flowers are going or any type of designs. It was really fun to see the reaction of Pam to some of my designs because she never gets to work with me.

These are flowers from the Nordstroms open house for their new store in murray.

Well at school I only have two quarters left. It is really nice to think I am almost done. Here are some tortes from my European Cakes and Tortes.
